Teila began her dance story at All-Stars Dance Center when she was 9 years old. After graduating high school, Teila continued her dancing passion and joined Westfield State University’s Dance Company during her sophomore year of undergraduate, performing three shows per year. Teila has been assisting classes at All-Stars since she was 16 years old. She used her vision and began teaching classes in 2017. While on WSU Dance Company, she performed many styles of dance, including jazz, contemporary, tap, hip hop, and ballet. Teila can also belly dance! After a few seasons with the Dance Company, she became a contemporary choreographer for the group. Over the years, Teila attended numerous competitions, both regional and national. She has taken from the best choreographers at conventions all across the state, and even from Abby Lee Dace Academy! Teila says, “the amazing teachers at ASDC inspired my love for dance over the years, and I am overjoyed to now call them my coworkers. I learned all I know about dance and leadership from these wonderful women and I aspire to be just like them while I help children find their love for dance and art.” Teila graduated with her BA in Psychology in May 2018, and is currently a Masters’ student at WSU to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Her goal is to become a Certified Expressive Therapist, using dance, art, and play therapies with children and adolescents struggling with mental health, learning disabilities, and domestic issues. She has had a passion for working with children since she was little, and feels extremely lucky when I walk into the studio and get to spend hours interacting and dancing with all of the students.
